DIAMOND POEM (Year 4)

Year 4 students are reading and writing about poetry.  They need to do a diamond poem.

A diamond poem or diamante poem, is a style of poetry that is made up of seven lines.  The form was developed by Iris Tiedt in 1969.  The poem can be used in two ways: comparing or contrasting two different subjects, or naming synonyms and antonyms for another subject.

The subject is named in the first line.
The second line consists of 2 adjectives describing the subject.
The third line contains 3 verbs ending in the suffix -ING which are related to the subject in the 1st line.
The fourth line has 4 nouns, related to the subject, but only the first two words are related to the first subject.
The 5th line is the same as line 3 but making reference to the subject in the last line.
The 6th line is the same as line 2 but making reference to the subject in the last line.
The 7th line is the second subject in the poem, that is different from the first subject, or synomyn, or it can be all the contrary.

1st GAME:   You will see some animals and you need to click to say if that animal is a herbivore, carnivore or omnivore.  What animals eat GAME

2nd GAME:  Move those animals where they belong.  You need to READ first what they eat and then decide if they are hervibores, carnivores or omnivores.  Feed the animals

MERRY CHRISMAS EUROPE (year 3)

Dear friends, The year 3 students have designed some very nice Christmas cards and they have written some Christmas messages to students in 27 schools from different European countries. This is our Etwinning project for this school year. The Christmas cards have been posted and we are already receiving cards from lots of European countries. This is the work we have done. We are going to do an exhibition with all the Christmas cards received. We hope you enjoy the video!!! Queridos amigos, Los alumnos de 3º han diseñado unas bonitas postales navideñas y han escrito unos mensajes felicitando las Navidades a estudiantes de 27 escuelas en diferentes países europeos. Éste es nuestro proyecto Etwinning de este curso. Las postales ya han sido enviadas y ya estamos recibiendo postales de otros países. Éste es el trabajo hecho. CONGRATULATIONS IKER!!!!

Last week Íker Sm received a prize for his painting in the contest 4º A participated about the River Cinca.  The contest was organized by a group in Monzon who studies the river Cinca.  The river Cinca passes through Monzón and through Fraga, too.

ENGLISH DAY

We celebrated our 4th English Day yesterday at San José de Calasanz.  We had an arts & crafts workshop where year 3 and year 4 students did some beautiful crowns.

 

 Later we played some games outside in the playground: Goldilocks, Magic Beans, Spider and Henny Penny.

After playtime, we had a very nice surprise.  The year 2 students together with some mummies, Sara and Maite from Year 4 and some teachers, playing drums and marching, came all dressed as the Queen's Scott guards.  And then, 4 members of the Royal family came to visit our school, including the QUEEN and her husband, Camilla Parker and Katherine Middleton!!!!  One child per class gave a flower to the royal family and said some words.  Everybody did a FANTASTIC job!!!

WATER CYCLE

DIAMOND POEMS

Year 4 students are learning about POETRY. They are studying different techniques poets use when they write.  Year 4 children are going to write a diamond poem using a very easy poem generator. You can do it using a computer and print it. We hope you have fun.
